About Saint Ignatius:
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, also known as ‘Theophorus’ or ‘God-bearing,’ was an early Christian writer and the Bishop of Antioch. He is believed to have converted to Christianity at a young age and was a disciple of John the Apostle, along with his friend Saint Polycarp. Ignatius wrote a series of letters while being taken to Rome, where he faced martyrdom. These letters are significant works among the Apostolic Fathers, covering important topics like church structure, the sacraments, and the role of bishops. Eusebius, a fourth-century historian, noted that Ignatius succeeded Evodius as bishop and that St. Peter directed his appointment. Tradition holds that Ignatius was one of the children Jesus blessed. His writings continue to inspire and guide Christians today.
