THE BREASTPLATE OF JUDGEMENT There is a lot of taboo surrounding crystals and whether or not it holds significance within Christianity. Here at Bespoke & Co. Candles, we are constantly asked why we incorporate crystals within our religious décor (including our crystal crosses or religious icons, etc.) and whether crystals are valued in our Bible or if they are a source of God or not. Well, let’s look at Exodus, where God speaks to Moses and commands him to make the priestly garment, so Aaron (the elder brother of Moses) wears what is well known as the Priestly Breastplate, or Breastplate of Judgment. You see, in Exodus (19:6) it is said that God desired for Israel to be “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”. God wanted to share His blessings and reveal His glory to the surrounding unbelieving nations. Although, in order to glorify God, Israel had to be a land of holy people. So, God called upon Moses to tell his brother Aaron and Aarons’ sons to represent and serve those before Him in the tabernacle, and represent God to the people by helping them uphold the laws through their teachings. Aaron, as a high priest, had to stand before God wearing the breastplate of judgment, which was used to communicate with God and determine God’s will. In Exodus 28:2-13, it states: 2 "And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. 3 So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. 4 And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest." The Ephod 5 “They shall take the gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and the fine linen, 6 and they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, artistically worked. 7 It shall have two shoulder straps joined at its two edges, and so it shall be joined together. 8 And the intricately woven band of the ephod, which is on it, shall be of the same workmanship, made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen.” 9 “Then you shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel: 10 six of their names on one stone and six names on the other stone, in order of their birth. 11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall set them in settings of gold. 12 And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders as a memorial.” Exodus 28:15-22 states: 15 “You shall make the breastplate of judgment. Artistically woven according to the workmanship of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, you shall make it. 16 It shall be doubled into a square: a span shall be its length, and a span shall be its width. 17 And you shall put settings of stones in it, four rows of stones: The first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and an emerald; this shall be the first row; 18 the second row shall be a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond; 19 the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; 20 and the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. They shall be set in gold settings. 21 And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.” So you see, these crystals are beautiful objects created by God, and represent portions of God’s glorious and heavenly paradise. Mentioned again in Revelation 21:10-12 and Revelation 21:18-21: “And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel… 18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.” The symbolic meaning of the crystals is what makes them so uniquely special. They contain such a high frequency and vibrant energy which is so beautiful. They should be taken as a reminder to stay in touch with God and higher source, and to always stay good, be good, and do good, as Aaron and his family were made to do. We are on this earth to uplift each other and spread the word of love and God, and to keep our relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit alive. To put your faith in God, to respect God, to value the gift of life and express that gratitude morning and night to our Lord.  Eleni, to many, is simply their mirror, and through her tools, her biggest wish for humanity is that they seek within themselves and never outside of themselves. When you seek answers through prayer and have complete trust, God will show you the way; your prayers will be heard and answered. Eleni asks that you all use your discernment to know the difference between good and evil. That with every step you take on the path we call life is to serve for the highest good, not just for yourself but for humanity. Remember to love one another, the way our lord Jesus Christ loves us. At the last supper, before Jesus had gone out, he says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” ( John 13:34) We need to stop judging each other, especially when it comes to faith. Remember, when we point one finger, there are always three pointing back. Eleni understands the importance of free will and that each and everyone of us is on a different path and journey.  When beautiful beings come up to Eleni, whether in store or at our pop-ups, they try to challenge her reasoning behind the use of crystals, and her faith. The first question most ask her is, “Do you believe in God?” and Eleni responds, “My relationship with God and our Lord Jesus Christ is so strong and unbreakable. My faith is undeniable.” Then, Eleni gets asked, "Why do you use crystals? They are evil. Continue stirring to prevent scorching or burning. Incorporate Essential Oils for Scent: It is time to add your choice of essential oil to your melted wax. I personally love adding lavender oil to make a gorgeous, scented soy candle wax. Stir for two minutes after adding it to the melted wax. Even though this stage is optional, we strongly suggest it! Put the Wax in the Container: When the thermometer registers 80 degrees Celsius, it is time to start the pouring process.
